Dynamic vehicle routing

Route2 is an innovative engine based on artificial intelligence dedicated to creating delivery schedules and planning routes for vehicles based on orders.

Optimal routes determined by the Route2 module are, above all, minimization of total transport costs while maintaining a certain level of efficiency, but also saving time needed for planning and ensuring on-time delivery.

Route2 Functionalities

Route2 takes into account various parameters when planning routes, it is built in a responsive mode of operation for dynamically managed transport systems, which means the allocation of vehicles to orders and routes in a way that allows for ongoing adjustment of routes, taking into account, for example, new and canceled orders or changing traffic conditions. The functionalities of the Route2 module include:

Dynamic route planning, taking into account the unpredictability in transport

Static assignment of orders involves a one-time allocation of a pool of orders in a single allocation for a unit of time, such as 15 minutes, one hour, or one day, without the ability to update the defined allocation. This allocation limits the possibility of more efficient use of the fleet by adding additional orders and re-optimizing the route considering canceled and newly added orders.
Static assignments are ideal for fleet operators who receive transportation orders with a time lag (e.g., once a day) with the need for delivery in the next time interval (the next day).

Dynamic assignment involves the ability to re-optimize previously established routes and assignments with consideration for new orders and new road conditions. This solution is particularly useful for operators who receive orders in real-time. This allocation enables the operator to increase the operational efficiency of the fleet by up to 30% (30% lower operational cost for a given pool of orders).

Optimization for one or many distribution centers and transshipment hubs

A multimodal system enables significant operational savings, especially for companies handling orders over long distances with potential distribution centers along the way (first mile → hub-to-hub travel → last mile). By considering transshipments in a single optimization, we can better adjust vehicle sizes to transportation needs and increase vehicle utilization efficiency.

Transshipment points and distribution centers can be defined by the operator using dedicated tools for the Route2 module. By optimizing services in the multimodal system, our solution ensures coordination of transportation tasks, taking into account factors such as time required for transshipment and delays.

Including parameters such as delivery windows, priorities, employee schedules

A time window refers to a time interval during which a transportation order can be picked up or delivered, and beyond which the operator will be penalized or may not have the possibility to fulfill the order. Meanwhile, priorities determine which order brings greater profit or has a higher priority for servicing in a specific time window.

Order priorities are combined with time windows to enable management of vehicles and orders that may have conflicting service times or to enforce the algorithm to choose the most cost-effective solution. In the Route2 module, the fleet operator can define necessary vehicle and driver breaks (as well as their location). Based on the defined break schedules, the Route2 module will plan the order of service for orders to ensure the break schedules are fulfilled.

Predictive routing for fleet rebalancing, including charging

Route2 includes a built-in module for learning transport patterns and their effectiveness. The algorithm’s self-learning capabilities enable the optimization of fleet utilization for better future balancing, such as the algorithm knowing that peak deliveries from point A are expected at 11am, so it positions vehicles at point A before orders appear. Similarly, vehicle loading and servicing are planned outside of peak fleet utilization hours. Battery charging optimization can occur in reactive mode (charging because the battery has low charge) and proactive mode (charging because we are close to a charging station and have no priority orders to fulfill in the near future).

Possibility to optimize many fleet utilization parameters

Route2 can take into account, among others: minimization of operational costs when handling all submitted orders, maximization of generated profit with or without the need to handle all orders, minimization of traveled distance or service time for a declared pool of orders, criteria combined depending on the provided service, e.g. minimizing operational costs with the necessity of handling a priority area or a specific group of orders and maximizing generated profit without the need to handle all orders for the remaining area.

The parameters we optimize include: service time, traveled distance, fleet utilization (vehicle and driver availability time), number and size of vehicles servicing the orders, service cost.

Support of advance and current bookings

The functionality allows you to plan the use of the fleet of vehicles, taking into account orders that have been planned in advance, with the possibility of changing the schedule to add new orders, while ensuring the service of orders that have been planned in advance.

Editing automatically assigned routes in a web browser

The interface of the Route2 module allows you to: define new transport orders, view current orders, their statuses and vehicle statuses, Invoke requests for allocation optimization and set automatic allocation calls (e.g., every 15 minutes, every hour, dynamically with each new order, etc.). Manual overwriting of routes and drivers to vehicles (e.g., the algorithm will automatically assign orders and routes to the vehicle, while the dispatcher can manually change the assignment)

Flexible Solution

The module-based construction of the platform guarantees flexibility and personalization of the provided solutions. The suitable configuration of Aleet products will allow you to create or expand solutions tailored to the specific needs of your fleet of vehicle

Route2 can be extended with additional modules, including:

Vizyah –  a platform for monitoring vehicles, transport orders and drivers.

Shifttoo – a module enables creating automatically schedules for drivers and other employees.

DriveLight – a module evaluates the driving style and economy.

DriverApp -dedicated application for management and contact with the driver.
